
The “agency in a box” model is a problem-solving and decision-making model for higher ed that brings together faculty members and administrative leaders as co-agents for change. The central function of the model is that administrative leaders design the frame of the “box,” articulating the parameters for what a successful outcome must look like, while faculty members use their expertise to generate a tailored solution that fits within that box. The emergent solution is then shepherded through governance approvals and made operational.
